The Realm of Forgotten Things

Everything is made for a purpose. The purpose of a child’s toy is wondrous in its intent. However, not every toy is made equal, and not all toys end up in the hands of loving children. All too often many man hours are spent on creating something never once played with by a child. These creations end up in landfills, or locked away in some warehouse collecting dust. A lucky few end up relegated to the Realm of Forgotten Things.

There is a subtle magic to forgotten things. Blank canvases for a story to imprint itself onto. like empty vessels, they collect the trickles from coalesced streams of Aether. These items are coveted by many Magi for their potential, but are harder to find than most people suspect. To be truly forgotten, any thought of the things very existence must disappear from the last person who remembered it’s location and history.

Abandoned homes are a rich source of forgotten items. A place without human habitation is an environment which creates a pocket of aetheric energy. This energy is colored by the unseen scars a location may have. A loving home with wonderful memories collects positive Aetheric flows. Likewise an abandoned place with an awful negative past creates pools of negative Aetheric energy.

In general, it is more common to find “Left Hand’’ path, or dark Aetheric energy in abandoned locations. Although less common, loving forgotten places do exist, like the lost hideout of a child, overgrown by time. Forgotten items are always useful for any conjuring big or small, and necessary for the creation of magical items.

Material things share a connection with their owners. Their dreams, character, and shared experiences contribute aetheric power to objects. We all know the feeling. Staying the night in an unfamiliar place, and the feel of the pillows just aren’t the same. Many of us have also brought items into our home which just don’t belong. Not cursed per se, but unsettling. However, things which are forgotten lose their strong ownership connection. Ready for a new aetheric life, offering less resistance in a Magi's conjuration work. Strong flows can create grievous, and unexpected consequences for the Magi. While some Workings prefer items with very heavy imprinting, most do not.
