How To Fit Fascias And Soffits

Soffits and fascia oftenly get spoiled after sometime meaning they should be replaced immediately to avoid future damages. Most people who do these jobs are experts and have a easy time in fixing them on the roofs.

There are major things you should consider when choosing fascia and soffit boards. These are:

1. The kind of fixing that you use

Fixing the fascia and soffit is not hard provided that you follow the steps accordingly.

Below is the procedure to consider when fixing the fascia and soffit:

The major thing that one should consider when fixing the fascia and soffit is the health and safety measures when working on height health and safety comes first this is because you don’t want to have an accident when fixing or replacing the fascia and soffit. Inspect the fascia and soffits and ensure that they are in good condition:

There are two ways to fix the soffit boards these are:

Method one you need to use the hammer and nails to the lower side of the timber. Use stainless nails, pins or the plastic capped nails this will prevent corrosion.
The second method is fixing the soffit in a UPVC that is not attached to the wall. It is advisable to use screw drivers.

After fixing the soffit, put the fascia board using shank nails with stainless steel to prevent rust on the fascia. Use two nails to double fix to ensure it is fixed permanently.

After fixing the fascia and soffit completely install the rain water system. Also fix the gutters with a fall slightly to allow water to flow through.
After firmly installing the gutters install the Eaves protector or strips which helps in preventing condensation thus no damping.

Return the roof tiles to where they were and make sure the whole place is neat for sealing

Most people ignore about fixing the fascia and soffits boards. Below are some major signs that show it is time to fix new fascia and soffits:

1. Patches on the wood
2. Flaking paint and cracked paint
3. Animals and rodents on the roofline
4. Leaking water on the roofline
5. No ventilation in the room.
