Gut Check Your Ambition

Implementation

One idea I learned at Sundance 2019 Mastermind with Dean Graziozi, Brendon Burchard and Ethan Willis.

Are you aiming high enough?

Is what you want to do in your life part of your DNA?

You have the tactics and the tools but something is missing?

If that is the case, for you one of the most important things you can do is to gut check your ambition. That means checking in on where you are with your soul and your intention for life.

When you have a strategy that shifts your soul and moves you to momentum then you have hit the jackpot!

Look, you only live life once so why not push yourself to enjoy the experience why you are here?

I want you to create your life so that you create sustainable connections with something greater than you that pulls you out of your current capacity into somewhere greater than you are today.

This is possible when you gut check your ambition.

As a practitioner academic researching life in terms of human potential, practical theology, and positive psychology I want to be part of your journey to be more, to be your best, and to live an extraordinary life.

Like I said, you only get one chance at this, so why not do it to the best of your current ability? No one said you can’t aim high with your current skill set, so why not define how you want to live your life, on your terms, in a way that is satisfying to you?

Brendon gave me the concept of ‘gut checking your ambition’ and I am going to expand it further to share my ideas on this with you…

Aim to check in with yourself every day (at least at the key milestones) and ask yourself the following questions:

Create triggers at the key milestones in your day — eg at meal times, when you leave the kids at school and are on your way back, when you have put the kids to bed, when you have finished eating dinner, on the way back from the gym… whatever your key milestones are. I invite you to select 3 of these and add a trigger to them where you ask yourself these 3 key questions.

CAN YOU JUST IMAGINE what your life would be like if you gut checked your ambition 3 times a day?

One thing I observed from watching Brendon, Dean and Ethan at work is that these guys gut check their ambition more than 3 times a day, so it is no surprise that they have such amazing results in their personal and professional lives.

Don’t get me wrong, these guys are serious about their work, but they also enjoy doing it. And that is an approach that is worth considering for me.

One suggestion I have to turbo-charge this approach is to have multiple alarms on your phone to remind you to do things such as ‘tell H you love them,’ ‘call Y out of the blue,’ ‘what have you done today to progress?”

This strategy is simple and powerful. It will get you results.

AND one thing that is really important is that this strategy is not designed to get you stressed. If your happy place is doing 10% of what you were doing last year because you’re at a different stage in your life then please honour that. Do not compare yourself to someone else, your old self, or to your superhuman self (if that will stress you out). Gut checking your ambition also requires acknowledging where you are right now, and the stage of life you are in.

The first rule of gut checking your ambition is to be kind to yourself.

The second rule of gut checking your ambition is to shoot for the stars (worst case you’ll land on the moon :-))

The third rule of gut checking your ambition is to be consistent and implement (marathons are run by moving one foot in front of another — several times!)

I have spent my entire working life looking for approaches that will enable me to implement and get results.

This gut check 3 times a day will do that for you!.

PS — I have had enough of people buying courses, doing training, having ideas and not implementing. So much money, talent, and energy is wasted. Imagine what you could do if you knew how to implement the tools, techniques, and training you have learned.

Let me help you move the knowledge from your head to your heart and start moving projects forward in your life.
